Sean Smith of Tyred

I love the fact that being a photographer gives me the opportunity to use my GPS and head off to places I haven’t been before and meet people I probably wouldn’t otherwise. This morning I headed off to Elsie’s River (the name is almost certainly cooler than the place) to shoot Sean Smith of Tyred for GQ magazine. Tyred is the brainchild of Sean and Delarey Wagner and they’re part of a growing number of designers giving a second life to materials and items formerly destined for the junkyard and landfill sites.

I most recently saw tyres being used on a community build project for a residential home on the BBC program Grand Designs. Having become increasingly aware of the need to recycle our junk over the last few years I think it’s a great idea.

Perhaps when I get off my soapbox I’ll go and recycle that as well.
